My first Amazing Race season casted in early June and started on June 20th, 2016. The race visited The Bahamas, Colombia, South Africa, France, Portugal, Kenya, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, India, Vanuatu, and The United States.
Leg 1: USA -> Bahamas
Wave Hill was the first starting line in Papa's Amazing Race.
10 teams of 2 arrived at Wave Hill, a 28-acre estate in The Bronx, to start Papa's first Amazing Race. The teams were then informed that the first team to check in would receive the Express Pass and the Salvage Pass. That team may keep one item but must give the other to another team before the end of the 3rd leg. After the teams began the race, their first clue informed them to go to LaGuardia International Airport and book a flight to Nassau, The Bahamas, where they went to Paradise Island. At the Roadblock, one team member had to name all 14 islands or island groups in The Bahamas. When teams completed the Roadblock, they had to figure out that Fort Charlotte was their next destination. When teams arrived in Fort Charlotte, they were instructed to go to The Pirates of Nassau Museum to find their first pitstop somewhere in the museum. Tom and Barry won the leg and Ryan and Maliyah arrived last, but were saved because the leg was non-elimination.
Leg 2: Bahamas -> Colombia
Malecon Leon Caridi was the 2nd pitstop in Papa's Amazing Race.
At the beginning of the leg, teams had to figure out what the waterslide in the picture was. They would then have to go to the Leap of Faith to receive a flag. The teams then had to figure out which country the flag belonged to. When they found out, they would go to the city of Barranquilla. When teams arrived in Barranquilla, they made their way to Plaza de la Paz. At the speed bump, Ryan and Maliyah and Dino and Zach had to answer some history facts about Colombia. Then, teams chose between Dry or Wet. In Dry, teams had to search for their clue in the Centro Comercial Buenavista. In Wet, teams had to go scuba diving for a correct clue (some were incorrect). Afterwards, teams had to go to Estacion Montoya and answer what it meant in English to receive their next clue. Then, teams made their way to the pitstop along Malecon Leon Caridi. Violet and Garrett arrived first and Ryan and Maliyah were eliminated.
Leg 3: Colombia -> South Africa
In Soweto, teams made their way to the Orlando Towers, where they had to bungee jump to receive their next clue.
When teams began the race, they were informed to make their way to Johannesburg, South Africa and find the Montecasino to receive their next clue. Then, one team member had to keep playing roulette until they won. Afterwards, they made their way to the FNB Stadium and find their clue right in the middle of the stadium. Teams were then informed to travel to Soweto and find their clue along Vilakazi Street where they would find their Detour. In Old Fashioned, teams had to answer questions about Hector Pieterson, who was killed in a riot. In Brand New, teams had to answer questions about the local tribes in South Africa. Once teams finished their Detour, they had to go to the Orlando Towers, where both team members had to bungee jump off the towers to find the pitstop. Unfortunately, Ingrid, Michael, Zach, and Tom all got injured trying to climb up the tower. They were replaced by Rizzo, Skittle, Ricky, and Gamo. Barry, and his new partner, Gamo, ended up winning the leg, but for Josh, he couldn't keep up, so he was eliminated, along with Skittle.
Leg 4: South Africa -> France
Teams made their way to Fort Saint-Jean, which was the location of the Detour.
At the start of the leg, teams were informed to go back to O.R. Tambo International Airport to book a flight to Marseille. Once they arrived, they went to the Marseille Cathedral. Teams later arrived to the Palais Longchamp, which was the sight of the Roadblock. At the Roadblock, one team member had to correctly answer some questions about the place before receiving their next clue. Teams then proceeded to Fort Saint-Jean, where teams encountered the leg's Detour. They had to either answer questions about the fort or find out where the boats in Marseille go to. Once they finished, they would make their way by ferry to the Chateau d'If, which was the pitstop for the leg.
Teams were instructed to take a train from Marseille to Toulouse, a smaller city in France. They then made their way to the Theatre du Capitole, to find the Detour. The teams either had to perform a dance or they had to make pottery. Once completed, they made their way to The Pont Neuf, which was the location of the Roadblock. In the Roadblock, one team member had to travel down the Garonne River and find letters, which when unscrambled, would reveal the location of the pitstop. Players had to figure out that "cathedral" was the hidden word and they had to make their way to The Toulouse Cathedral to find the pitstop. Red and Jake arrived first in this leg, while Gamo and Barry arrived last, but were saved by their Save.
Leg 6: France -> Portugal
Rossio Square was the 6th pitstop of the race.
Teams were told to fly to Lisbon, Portugal and were warned that the leg would be a double elimination leg because Gamo and Barry used their Save. They then made their way to Jeronimos Monastery to find their next clue. Afterwards, teams were instructed to take a taxi to Amadora and find their next clue in Dolce Vita Tejo. In the Roadblock, one team member had to answer facts about the place before they could go to SPOT Freedive for their next clue. In the Detour, teams either had to answer questions about the triathlon, hexathlon, and decathlon, or work as a little kid at KidZania. After they finished their option, they made their way back to Lisbon and found Sao Jorge Castle, the location of the U-Turn. Both Jonah and Ross and Gamo and Barry were U-Turned in this leg. After they finished, they made their way to the pitstop at Rossio Square. Red and Jake placed first again, but Gamo and Barry and Jonathan and Romeoll were both eliminated from the race due to the double elimination.
